The majority never have direct personal experience of deities and spirits. A minority have always had, and continue to have, direct personal experience of deities and spirits. These experiences are the point of origin of religion.

The cause of religions continues without change so religion will continue.

It’s possible you intend specific ones. There is one family that makes the error of biblical literalism. There are a tiny number that make the evil error of claiming that other religions are false. There are a tiny number that demand belief. The field of world religions would improve if those few were to shrink, but history says that won’t happen. In 100 years, Islam will not even have completed its historical crusade phase.

Religion will always be here, the question is how dominate it will be. Well, it depends, if the nation states keep growing, expending there are two options for religion, it becomes a means of resistance, or it is discarded as the state provides for all needs.

Dominate or be relevant? That’s quite a range. I’d argue that religion does not dominate today. In 100 years it was also not dominate but it will still be relevant to billions. Remember, 100 years is not a very long time. There are people alive today who will still be alive in 100 years.

Religion can provide community. This is similar to above, but in some places, especially northern and Western Europe, some people continue to attend church even if they are openly atheist. Church, there, is a social group binding a community together. Religion can be a crutch. Some people can’t handle life without religion. OK. Now, some atheists say that we should remove those crutches. But if you remove a person’s crutches, you are obligated to provide them a soft place to land. And don’t many of us need some sort of help? Heck, without my glasses, I’d get hit by a car very soon. If you take my glasses I will be very angry with you and you will not be doing me a service.
